Mylar® RL71AF is a biaxially oriented polyester (BOPET) film with a sealant layer designed to seal to polypropylene (PP) and pulp fiber trays. It is used as a heat sealable lidding film in packaging frozen and refrigerated foods. The heat seal layer provides a peelable seal over a broad temperature range. |
Mylar® RL71AF is for frozen, refrigerated, or ambient products that will remain at their current condition, or intend to be reheated in the microwave only. Heat seals with Mylar® RL71AF are designed to be self venting during the cooking process. Mylar® RL71AF can withstand freezing temperatures down to -40℉. |
Adhesion Promoting Treatment (Mylar® RL71AT and Mylar® RL71AP): Select gauges of Mylar® RL71AF are available with corona and chemical adhesion promoting treatments (on the opposite side of film from the heat seal layer) to enhance printing and laminating. These film types are marketed by Mylar® Specialty Films as Mylar® RL71AT and RL71AP, respectively. The dyne level of corona treated films may decline with storage, and in-line corona treatment may be required during subsequent printing or laminating to increase the dyne level to a value adequate to get desired ink or laminate adhesion. |
Food Contact Status - Please contact your Mylar® Specialty Films representative to receive the Regulatory Compliance documents |
Disposal of Mylar® RL71AF does not present special problems. It can be buried as a relatively inert material in a landfill or burned in an incinerator with normal refuse. The incinerator should have sufficient draft to exhaust all combustion products through the stack to avoid exposure to irritating fumes. The disposal method should comply with local, state and federal regulations. |
